WASHINGTON (AFP) – Global warming could drive millions more Mexicans into the United States in search of work by 2080 due to diminishing crop yields in Mexico, a study released Monday showed. "Depending on the warming scenarios used and adaptation levels assumed... climate change is estimated to induce 1.4 to 6.7 million adult Mexicans (or two percent to 10 percent of the current population aged 15-65 years) to emigrate as a result of declines in agricultural productivity alone," the study said. MEXICO CITY – The drug-cartel enforcer told an unsettling story: A woman who worked in the Mexican border's biggest U.S. consulate had helped a rival gang obtain American visas. And for that, the enforcer said, he ordered her killed. Nonsense, says a U.S. official, who said Friday the motive for the slaying remains unknown. The employee, Lesley Enriquez, and two other people connected to the U.S. consulate in the city of Ciudad Juarez were killed March 13 in attacks that raised concerns that Americans were being caught up in drug-related border violence.

Mexican singer Sergio Vega was murdered while on a national tour at the weekend, just hours after denying reports of his death, local media reported. Man ordered to repay $3M in Calif employment fraud

A former Marysville resident has been sentenced to prison and ordered to pay back $3 million in fraudulently obtained unemployment compensation. U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner says 31-year-old Manuel Mejia Ordonez was sentenced Friday to eight years and one month in prison for conspiracy to commit mail fraud and identity theft.

Holder Announces FBI Probe of Border Patrol After Shooting of Mexican Boy

Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday announced that the FBI is investigating whether excessive force was used by Border Patrol after an agent fatally shot a 15-year-old Mexican boy on the banks of the Rio Grande.
