Did anybody catch The Simpsons last night. I realize the show became worthless some time ago, but I still watch it out of habit. I wish it were not so, because then I would have been spared the disgusting display of toadying and kissing up to Michelle Obama in last night's show. Never again.

Celebrating its 20-year anniversary and 450th episode, The Simpsons stands alone. Of course, it's a splendid isolation as, officially, the longest-running prime-time show in television history and, unofficially, as the most successful and influential creation in pop culture history. Simply put, The Simpsons has changed the world we live in.

VATICAN CITY -- To put it as the devout Ned Flanders would, the Vatican's newspaper thinks "The Simpsons" are an okely dokely bunch. L'Osservatore Romano on Tuesday congratulated the show on its 20th anniversary, praising its philosophical leanings as well as its stinging and often irreverent take on religion. Without Homer Simpson and the other yellow-skinned characters "many today wouldn't know how to laugh," said the article titled "Aristotle's Virtues and Homer's Doughnut." The paper credited "The Simpsons" -- the longest-running American animated program -- with opening up cartoons to an adult audience. The show is based on "realistic and...

Over the past 20 years, they have entered into the national and global consciousness as an icon of television entertainment. The Fox network shows influence on popular American culture was highlighted when The Simpsons were idolized on US postage stamps earlier... |

Forget all the pizza and doughnuts -- the British government wants fans of "The Simpsons" to ditch junk food and eat more healthily. The Department of Health is spending 640,000 pounds ($1 million) to sponsor episodes of the long-running U.S. cartoon series broadcast on Channel 4, as part of its Change4Life campaign. Before the start of the sponsored shows, cartoon characters pretending to be the members of the dysfunctional animated family are shown sitting on a sofa tucking into ice cream and chips which then morph into more healthy alternatives. The government hopes that viewers will realize they should follow...
